Wanted businessman Lalit Modi was spotted at the lavish wedding of Siddharth Mallya, the son of embattled liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya, in the United Kingdom over the weekend.
The wedding, which took place at Vijay Mallya’s $14 million estate in Hertfordshire, was a grand affair featuring both Christian and Hindu ceremonies. Siddharth Mallya, who was born in Los Angeles and raised in London and the UAE, married his partner Jasmine in the presence of close family and friends.
Vijay Mallya, who is wanted in India for an alleged loan fraud case exceeding ₹900 crore, was photographed posing with the newlyweds and even sharing a kiss with his son. Another image showed Lalit Modi, the former Indian Premier League (IPL) chief who is also a wanted in India facing charges of tax evasion and money laundering, in the same frame as the Mallya family.
The lavish celebrations, which reportedly lasted for a week, were attended by guests from around the world. Videos and photos shared on social media showed the couple dancing, cutting a multi-tiered wedding cake, and being greeted by the attendees.
The presence of Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya, both of whom are embroiled in legal troubles, has drawn significant attention to Siddharth Mallya’s wedding. While the couple celebrated their nuptials, the attendance of the two wanted persons has raised eyebrows and sparked discussions about the ongoing cases against them.
